Gangotri – Gaumukh & Delhi
Total 565km drive from Delhi to Gangotri via Haridwar and Hrishikesh. We spent the first night in a Hrishikesh hotel; walked over Ram Jhula & Laxman Jhula bridges. The next day we drove 252km from Hrishikesh to Gangotri (the spiritual source of the river Ganga), staying in a guesthouse overnight. The following morning we began our 4 day, 3 night trek from Gangotri (alt 3048m). 9km to camp at Chirbasa (alt 3600m). Lunch stop after 5km to Bhojwasa (alt 3792m). Then 4km to Gaumukh (alt 3892m), the physical source of the Ganga. Filled our vessels with holy Gangajal. 6km to Tapovan (alt 4464m). Then 24km back to Gangotri. After leaving Gangotri, we returned to Delhi via Hrishikesh again, where we saw the Aarti on the Ganga. Final night in Delhi at the Shangri La Hotel, near Connaught Place, India Gate and The Amar Jawan Jyoti! Also saw the major sites, such as the Red Fort and Chandni Chowk.
Andaman Islands – Honeymoon
This is where our adventures started as husband and wife! We got married in India, alongside our family and friends. We chose the Andaman Islands for our honeymoon, for it’s remote beauty. After a long journey from Mumbai, (two planes, a ferry and a jeep), we finally made it to the eco friendly Barefoot Resort, off Beach No. 7, on Havelock Island. We spent a week on this beautiful island, relaxing, playing beach cricket, kayaking, trekking, fishing and enjoying the amazing seafood.
